Digital Readiness for Colorado’s Smallest Businesses

With our mission to help Colorado’s smallest businesses become more resilient, Energize Colorado identified digital readiness as a necessary component in building a resilient business.

Digital readiness is the process of using digital technologies to create new — or modify existing — business processes, culture, and customer experiences to meet changing business and market requirements.

Very small businesses in Colorado possess a wide range of understanding about technology in helping their businesses grow, compete and be resilient. Those that are not technology savvy have what we call a “Low Digital Literacy.” Using Energize Colorado’s network of partners and volunteers, “Energize Colorado Digital Readiness” (ECDR) Initiative uncovers the gaps in digital literacy, then delivers tools to fill the gaps.

In a study done by Pew, on the digital readiness gap, researchers found that 52 percent of Americans are hesitant to embrace new technology. Many are unaware of the full capacities of the internet and how ecommerce can increase the success of their business. Some, rightfully so, have concerns about online security. A number feel little to no confidence in their computer skills and don’t have the time to improve their skills while running a business.

Our digital readiness team, powered by volunteers, has curated tools to help small businesses get started in six major areas:

  • CRM
  • Accounting
  • Order Management
  • Digital Payments
  • SEO Tools
  • Cyber Security
